Shane Sarver, Black Hills State University Representative
Shane K. Sarver has been at Black Hills State University
since 1996 as a faculty member in Biology. Prior to joining
BHSU, Dr. Sarver received his B.S. from California
Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, a M.S.
from Humboldt State University and his Ph.D. from Louisiana
State University and had postdoctoral appointments at the
Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences,
the University of South Carolina and was a Visiting
Scientist at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington
and the Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole.
Dr. Sarver has been the Principal Investigator on over
a million dollars of extramurally funded projects during
his time at BHSU. He established The Center for the
Conservation of Biological Resources (CCBR) and the Western
South Dakota DNA Core Facilty (WestCore) and continues to
serve as the Director of both facilities.
Dr. Sarver has
recently been appointed as the Chief Research Officer at
BHSU. As the Chief Research Officer (CRO), he will
oversee the research agenda for BHSU and grow research
investment by promoting new research programs,
encouraging major grant and center proposals,
and promoting translational research and technology
transfer. This new position at BHSU will provide
guidance and vision in leading research enhancement
efforts and fostering excellence in research and scholarship
across all disciplines.
